SwipBox, the parcel locker company from Denmark, has had a good year. The number of lockers has tripled to 10 thousand. The amount of customers has also doubled in 2021, thanks to the pandemic boom in ecommerce as well as increased sales of their smart lockers, the company says.
SwipBox is known for their smart parcel locker network. The company is headquartered in Denmark but is active in 47 countries, including Belgium, Poland, Finland, Norway and Sweden. Unlike some parcel lockers, SwipBox is not bound to one specific carrier but partners with multiple carriers in different countries.
Sales driven by Infinity locker
According to the parcel locker service, the growth in sales was driven in particular by their Infinity solution. These lockers are battery driven and Bluetooth enabled. Couriers and customers can pick up parcels with an app. The product was previously taken up by Bring, the international logistics provider of Norway Post, for their return service. SwipBox also partnered with Bpost in Belgium for their smart locker.
Managing director Jens Rom: “Our numbers clearly show that this strategy works.”
Managing director Jens Rom from SwipBox: “With the SwipBox Infinity solution, parcel providers can quickly build dense networks, which can easily be adapted to accommodate changing needs.” He adds: “Our numbers clearly show that this strategy works.”
More parcels in the pandemic
Aside from increasing sales of their smart locker, SwipBox says coronavirus-related lockdown measures have also boosted the company’s numbers. At the end of last year, SwipBox already saw a peak in online shopping and consequently: packages. Compared to the year before, there was a 53 percent increase of parcels being delivered to the company’s lockers worldwide. The need for returns has also grown amidst the pandemic boom in ecommerce.
In 2020, 53 percent more parcels were delivered to the company’s lockers worldwide.
According to managing director Rom, SwipBox wants to beat this year’s numbers in 2022. The company also says it wants to move into more countries. What countries will be for you in future, however, is not yet disclosed.
