The upcoming end of the catalogue is the result of Argos’ move towards ecommerce. The retailer says that online shopping offers “greater convenience” than browsing through its print catalogue. The last catalogue was printed in January and was copied 3.9 million times. Now, the products will be only listed and displayed online.
‘Our customers’ shopping habits have changed’
“Just as our customers’ tastes have changed over the years, so have their shopping habits. We are seeing an increasing shift towards digital shopping, using our mobile app, website and in-store browsers”, said Mark Given, chief marketing officer at Argos owner Sainsbury’s. “Closing the book on the catalogue will help us focus on delivering exciting and inspiring digital shopping experiences to meet the changing needs of our customers.”
